Intertidal Foraminifera and Organic Pollution in the LaHave River
My project for 2018 CWSF examines the effect of organic pollution from straight pipes in microscopic creatures called foraminifera in the intertidal area of the LaHave River Estuary, Nova Scotia. I show that the dominant species changes as one moves downstream, and suggest this might be related to the concentration of pollution. This provides a baseline for work as the river is cleaned up.
Our Federal Environment Minister, Catherine McKenna, was at the Canada Wide Science Fair, but I missed seeing her. She sent me this tweet. :)
There were four of us at the CWSF from the South Shore. It was a great week and we did really well!
